DAY 1 USA – Shanghai
Depart USA for Shanghai, China’s largest City.
DAY 2 Arrive at Shanghai
Arrive at Shanghai. We transfer to our five-star luxury hotel and check-in.
DAY 3 Shanghai – Huangshan
Our city tour takes us all around Shanghai. We visit the famed waterfront Bund, Nanjing Road, and Yu Garden. In the afternoon we fly to Mt. Huangshan. Overnight at Tunxi, an ancient town located at the foot of Mt. Huangshan.
DAY 4 Huangshan
A cable car ride takes us up to the midway of Mt. Huangshan for a sightseeing tour of the area. Mt. Huangshan is extolled for its “Four Ultimate Beauties” - unusual rock formations, pine trees, sea of clouds and hot springs. Overnight at the top of Mr. Huangshan.
DAY 5 Huangshan
If you desire, you may get up early to enjoy the fantastic view of sunrise amidst a sea of clouds in the summits. This morning our sightseeing features visits to the famed Tunxi Ancient Street, the Hot Spring Areas, the Flower Mountain and Enigma Caves. The largest group of stone caves in China, the Flower Mountain and Enigma Caves are in the east of Tunxi. Today it is still a mystery that why and how the ancient people constructed those caves in that area. A local specialty cuisine will be served for dinner.
DAY 6 Huangshan - Hongcun – Jingdezhen
Hongcun is an ancient traditional village with well preserved paved streets, architecture, decorations, and the integration of houses with comprehensive water systems. Proceed to Jingdezhen, a 1 1700- year-old capital of porcelain making industry. We’ll have an opportunity to visit the Porcelain Museum and the ceramic factory.
DAY 7 Jingdezhen - Jiujiang – Wuhan
Our first destination today is Jiujiang, an ancient city of rice and tea established by the emperor Qin Shi Huang, where we have a brief tour of Xunyanglou. Continue on to Wuhan. Upon arrival our city tour explores the popular Yellow Crane Tower and the famous Bells Museum. Tonight, enjoy the Fish Dinner Feast.
DAY 8 Wuhan - Yichang - Yangtze River Cruise
Depart Wuhan for Yichang, the site where our ship is docked and awaiting us. Upon our arrival at Yichang, we venture into town for a brief tour. Later tonight we board our Victoria Cruise ship.
DAY 9 Yangtze River Cruise (Xiling Gorge - Ship Lock - Three
Gorges Dam)
We sail through the Xiling Gorge. We spend the morning viewing the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. We edge into Wushan and stay on board the ship for the evening.
DAY 10 Yangtze River Cruise (Wu Gorge - Daning River or
Shennong Stream - Qutang Gorge)
Depending on the river conditions, our shore excursion is either along the Daning River or Shennong Stream. We board smaller vessels to access this tributary of the Yangtze. Return to the ship and enjoy as the vessel passes through the narrow meandering passages of the Qutang Gorge.
DAY 11 Yangtze River Cruise (Fengdu or Wanzhou)
Today’s shore excursion will occer either at Fengdu or Wanzhou, largely dependent on local river conditions. Fengdu is known as the “Ghost City” and is the depiction of the after-life as envisioned by the ancients. In Fendu, we will visit the “Ghost City” with its statues of ghosts and devils, or the new relocation village.
DAY 12 Yangtze River Cruise - Chongqing – Lijiang
Our Yangtze River Cruise comes to an end with the arrival at Chongqing. Disembark the cruise, a brief city tour takes us to Eling Park and the Zoo for the adorable panda bears. Later, we leave for Lijiang by air. Lijiang is the cultural center of the Naxi Minority, has been designated an UN World Cultural Heritage Site. For dinner the famous Wang’s Family Banquet is served.
DAY 13 Lijiang
The highlight of the day is Jade Dragon Mountain. We board chair lifts to access higher regions for a bird view of the famed Thirteen Peaks. The other stops are Baisha Village and Shuhe Ancient Town. After dinner in Old Town, enjoy the Naxi Traditional Classic Music.
DAY 14 Lijiang – Kunming
The morning city tour shows us Black Dragon Pond and Old Streets before we take a flight to Kunming. Known as the “Spring City”, Kunming holds the distinction as having the best year-round weather in all of China. Upon arrival, we are transferred to the hotel. The famous Yunnan Wild Mushroom Hot Pot will be served for dinner.
DAY 15 Kunming
We take a full day excursion to the Stone Forest, marveling at the natural stone “trees”. Created by ancient winds and water erosion over millions of years, the Stone Forest is a remarkable region of limestone cliffs and peaks. In the evening, we are in for a special treat of Yunnan Specialties followed by an exciting Minority Cultural Show.
DAY 16 Kunming - Hong Kong
After breakfast we visit the Xishan Park and Longmen Scenic Area. If time permits, a chance to sample Yunnan Tea will be provided. Fly to Hong Kong. After we are transferred to the hotel, the rest of the day is free at leisure.
DAY 17 Hong Kong – USA
We transfer to airport for our return flight.
